Johns Creek’s new mixed-use destination is moving out of the “coming soon” phase and into the opening phase. Medley has now set its official public opening for Thursday, October 29, 2026, with three days of grand-opening events planned from October 28 through October 30.

That is the biggest change since BBDN’s earlier reporting on the Johns Creek Town Center project. Medley is also actively recruiting workers as restaurants, retailers and service businesses prepare their opening teams.

Medley Is Only One Piece of the Johns Creek Town Center

That distinction matters. Medley is a 43-acre private mixed-use project inside the broader 192-acre Johns Creek Town Center. The Town Center is already taking shape around it, and two major public pieces are already open.

  • The Boardwalk at Town Center: Open behind Johns Creek City Hall
  • Medlock Bridge Road pedestrian tunnel: Complete and open, creating an off-street connection into the Town Center
  • Medley: Still under construction, with its official public grand opening set for October 29

So October 29 is not the day the entire Johns Creek Town Center suddenly opens. It is the moment its biggest private development moves into the public-opening phase. That is the bigger story BBDN is tracking.

What You Need to Know

  • Official public opening: Thursday, October 29
  • Grand-opening celebration: October 28 through October 30
  • Project: $560 million, 43-acre mixed-use community
  • Hiring: A Medley job fair is scheduled for September 16 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 4300 Medley Boulevard
  • Important: Some parts of Medley are already operating, including Trader Joe’s. October 29 is the project’s official public grand opening, not the first day every tenant opens.

Medley’s Grand Opening Schedule

Wednesday, October 28: Medley Unveiled

6 to 10 p.m. Medley Unveiled is a ticketed preview event benefiting the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra. Medley says the evening will include food tastings, cocktails, live entertainment and early access to explore the property before the official public opening.

Thursday, October 29: Official Opening and Ribbon Cutting

10 a.m. Medley is planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Plaza to mark the official opening of the development to the public.

Friday, October 30: Party on the Plaza

6 to 10 p.m. The opening celebration continues with a family-friendly Halloween event featuring live music, community activities and interactive experiences in the Plaza.

The Other Big Signal: Medley Is Hiring

The construction cranes have been the obvious sign that Medley was coming. The hiring push is a different kind of signal. It means businesses are now building the teams that will actually operate the restaurants, stores and services residents have been hearing about.

Medley has scheduled a job fair for Wednesday, September 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. at 4300 Medley Boulevard. North Atlanta Star reported that the event is aimed at filling more than 300 part-time and full-time positions across retail, restaurants and hospitality.

Medley’s own careers listings currently show openings connected to businesses including Rena’s Italian Fishery & Grill, Playa Bowls and Drybar, among others.

What Is Already Open?

This is where the wording matters. Medley is not a completely closed construction site waiting for one single opening day.

Trader Joe’s is already open, and individual businesses can follow their own opening schedules. October 29 is Medley’s official public grand opening for the broader destination. It should not be interpreted to mean every restaurant, shop, residence, office or future component will begin operating that morning.

Why This Matters for Johns Creek

Medley is the private mixed-use project at the center of a much larger Johns Creek Town Center vision. The project’s own FAQ describes Medley as a $560 million, 43-acre mixed-use community designed around dining, shopping, working, living and public gathering spaces.

For years, the bigger story in Johns Creek has been the effort to create something the city historically did not have: a recognizable, walkable center of activity. The opening dates now give residents a much clearer answer to the question BBDN has been tracking all year: When does this stop being a development story and start becoming a place people can actually use?

Thinking about living at Medley?

The retail and restaurant opening is one piece of the story. The residential side matters too. If you are considering the new townhomes planned at Tableau at Medley, I built a separate buyer guide with floor plans, community imagery and buyer-access information.

How We Got Here

BBDN first broke down the broader Town Center and Medley rollout in August, including what was open and what was still coming. You can read that background here: Johns Creek Town Center & Medley: What’s Open, What’s Coming Next.

We also covered a key pedestrian connection into the Town Center when the tunnel under Medlock Bridge Road opened: Johns Creek Just Opened a Key Connection Into Its New Town Center.

What BBDN Is Watching Next

  • Which restaurants and retailers confirm their individual opening dates before October 29
  • How the September 16 hiring push translates into opening teams
  • Parking, traffic and event logistics as the public opening approaches
  • The rollout of Medley’s residential, hotel and other later-phase components

The key takeaway: Johns Creek’s Town Center story has moved into a new phase. Medley now has a public opening date, opening-weekend programming and an active workforce push. The next few weeks should tell us how much of the destination is ready on day one and what will continue opening afterward.
